Ballroom Dancing Shoes

Like many other sports ballroom dancing also has a kind of a uniform which includes the attire as well as the kind of shoes you wear with it. You may be wondering why I am calling it a sport, but you will get a fair idea if you try doing swing dancing for even an hour. This may also change with the fact based on if you are getting ready for a lesson, competition or are studio dancing.

There are many people who wonder about the type of shoes which are best for ballroom dancing. As far as I think the best kind of shoes are the ones which have been designed particularly for ballroom dancing and it is better if they are crafted exactly for the dance style you are planning to do. But till the time you can get for yourself a sexy strappy Latin shoe which has a Cuban heel crafted for rumba or the cha-cha you can also use the street shoes.

What I have said is true but let me add to it that you cannot just use any street shoes for ballroom dancing. Some of the designs which should not be used are rubber soles such as sneakers as they don’t allow you to slide on the floor, open-toe shoes like sandals or flip-flops.

You can use leather soled shoes like the loafer kind or a dress shoe style for men. They will do well for ballroom dancing. You have to keep in mind that the important thing is that they are comfortable and not tight. It is not possible to focus on learning if you have aching feet.

The dance floor also has a part to play in how comfortable your feet feel. There are a few studios which have a proper dance floor, typically with a padded or rather spring-like under flooring. You can dance on such floor for a long time without getting tired, if you shoes are also comfortable. You may find it tougher on the hard floors and you may find your feet pounding.

When you are ready for actual dancing you can buy a decent pair of dance shoes after looking around for it properly. You have an endless selection with different styles and prices. You may have to pay in the range of -50 for a cheaper variety and more than 0 for a superior ballroom dancing shoes.
