Brief Full Cartoon Photo Notes
The Basket Whip is a slotted move, i.e. the lady simply steps forwards and backwards, and it is the man who moves off and on to her slot.

The lady faces south directly in front of the man, who faces north.
The man holds the lady's right hand in his left hand.
The man leads the lady to move backwards (stepping back on her right foot in preparation for an anticlockwise rotation) — by pushing her right hand slightly with his left hand — as he moves backwards-left off the lady's line, leaving it free for her to step forwards and offers his right hand for the lady to take his right hand in her left hand.

The lady faces south stepped away in front of and slightly on the right of the man, who faces north.
The man holds the lady's right hand in his left hand and holds the lady's left hand in his right hand.
The man leads the lady to move forwards and turn 180o anticlockwise (with weight on her right leg) under his left hand (and the lady's right hand) — by pulling her left hand slightly with his right hand at waist height and raising his left hand (and the lady's right hand) from waist height up and to his right (over the other hands) for the lady to turn under — as he moves forwards.

The lady faces north close to on the right side of the man, who faces north.
The man holds the lady's right hand in his left hand and holds the lady's left hand in his right hand — the lady's arm is wrapped in front of her body so that her left and right hands is available on her side.
The man leads the lady to move forwards — by pushing the lady's back slightly with his right arm — as he moves right to come on to the lady's line.

The lady faces north stepped away directly in front of the man, who faces north.
The man holds the lady's right hand in his left hand and holds the lady's left hand in his right hand — the lady's arm is wrapped in front of her body so that her left and right hands is available on her side.
The man leads the lady to move backwards — by releasing her left hand after pulling it slightly with his right hand — as he moves left off the lady's line, leaving it free for her.
Ideally, the lady will keep her arms and dance frame rigid, so that the man's lead acts as a spring against the lady's arms — which is probably the reason for the name of the move — otherwise, the man's lead degenerates to pulling the lady's left arm slightly against her waist and her right hip.

The lady faces north on the right side of the man, who faces north.
The man holds the lady's right hand in his left hand.
The man leads the lady to move backwards — by pushing her left hand slightly with his right hand — as he moves right and rotates 180o clockwise (with weight on his right leg).

Similarly, the man can pass the lady on her right side, by releasing the lady's right hand.

The whip can be led from a Travelling Return into the cuddle / whip position.
The whip can be led from double-handed positions, the uncrossed handhold is easier, but the crossed versions are also possible.
