“Classic” Yo-yo (6 counts ; 12 musical beats)

Introduction

The “Classic” Yo-yo is the original “classic” (slightly more formal) version of the Yo-yo.

Steps

1: (Step back)

The lady faces south directly in front of the man, who faces north.

The man holds the lady's right hand in his right hand.

The man leads the lady to move backwards — by pushing her right hand slightly with his right hand — as he moves backwards-left off the lady's line, leaving it free for her to step forwards.

2: (Step in, and take hands to left shoulder)

The lady faces south stepped away in front of and slightly on the right of the man, who faces north.

The man holds the lady's right hand in his right hand.

The man leads the lady to move forwards — by pulling her right hand slightly with his right hand — as he moves forwards slightly to the left of the lady's line, so that the lady comes into his right side. The lady may optionally place her left hand on the man's right shoulder.

The man brings the right hands across to his left shoulder (almost as if his right arm were in a sling), keeping a grip on the lady's right hand so that the lead cannot be confused with a Hatchback.

3: ()

The lady faces south on the right side of the man, who faces north.

The man holds the lady's right hand in his right hand — the man's right hand is near to his left shoulder.

The man leads the lady to rotate 180o clockwise (with weight on her right leg) — by bringing his right hand (and the lady's right hand) to his right, in front of the lady.

4: ()

The lady faces north close to on the right side of the man, who faces north.

The man holds the lady's right hand in his right hand — the man's right hand is extended to the left at shoulder height.

The man leads the lady to move forwards-left and rotate 180o anticlockwise (with weight on her left leg) — by bringing his right hand (and the lady's right hand) in front of himself so that his right forearm locks vertically in contact against the lady's right forearm, i.e. both right arms form an “L”-shape at shoulder height, so that they are elbow to elbow, with a flat palm to palm handhold. — as he moves backwards-right.

5: ()

The lady faces south directly in front of the man, who faces north.

The man holds the lady's right hand in his right hand — , so that the forearms are vertical and held against each other in a “gearstick” position.

The man leads the lady to turn 360o clockwise (with weight on her right leg) under his right hand (and the lady's right hand) — by pushing his right forearm against the lady's right forearm and raising his right hand (and the lady's right hand) from waist height to above the lady's head.

6: (Step back)

The lady faces south directly in front of the man, who faces north.

The man holds the lady's right hand in his right hand.

The man leads the lady to move backwards — by pushing her right hand slightly with his right hand — as he moves backwards.

7: (Finish)

The lady faces south stepped away directly in front of the man, who faces north.

The man holds the lady's right hand in his right hand.
