Flingy Flung (7 counts ; 14 musical beats)

Also known as: Wrapper or Wurlitzer Hesitation.

Introduction

The Flingy Flung is a wrap in and then out (from and to a Wurlitzer position). John Travolta dances a move similar to a Flingy Flung in “Saturday Night Fever”.

Steps

1: (Step back)

The lady faces south directly in front of the man, who faces north.

The man holds the lady's right hand in his left hand.

The man leads the lady to move backwards — by pushing her right hand slightly with his left hand — as he moves backwards and offers his right hand for the lady to take his right hand in her left hand.

2: (Step in)

The lady faces south stepped away directly in front of the man, who faces north.

The man holds the lady's right hand in his left hand and holds the lady's left hand in his right hand.

The man leads the lady to move forwards — by pulling her right hand slightly with his left hand changing to a flat palm-to-palm handhold at shoulder height and pulling her left hand slightly with his right hand — as he moves forwards.

3: ()

The lady faces south directly in front of the man, who faces north.

The man's left hand is palm-to-palm with the lady's right hand and holds the lady's left hand in his right hand — the man's left hand is near to his left shoulder.

The man leads the lady to move backwards and rotate 90o clockwise (with weight on her left leg) — by releasing her right hand after pushing it slightly with his left hand — as he moves backwards and rotates 90o anticlockwise (with weight on his right leg), to an in-line position.

At this point there is an option for both partners to mirror outside arm shapes / positions, e.g. both can do “L”-shapes, etc.

4: ()

The lady faces west stepped away on the right side of the man, who faces west.

The man holds the lady's left hand in his right hand — the man's right hand is at shoulder height.

The man leads the lady to move left and rotate 360o anticlockwise (with weight on her left leg) — by lowering his right hand (and the lady's left hand) to waist height, so that she rolls onto his right arm — as he moves right and rotates 90o clockwise (with weight on his right leg).

5: ()

The lady faces west close to directly in front of the man, who faces north.

The man holds the lady's right hand in his right hand — the man holds the lady's left shoulder with his left hand — the lady's left arm is wrapped in front of her body so that her left hand is available on her right side.

The man leads the lady to move right and rotate 360o clockwise (with weight on her right leg) so that she rolls off his right arm — by pushing the lady's left shoulder slightly to his left — as he moves backwards and rotates 90o anticlockwise (with weight on his left leg).

6: ()

The lady faces west stepped away on the right side of the man, who faces west.

The man holds the lady's left hand in his right hand — the man's right hand is at shoulder height.

The man leads the lady to spin 450o anticlockwise (with weight on her left leg) — by bringing his right hand (and the lady's left hand) backwards and releasing the lady's left hand from his right hand (almost like a Frisbee) — as he rotates 90o clockwise (with weight on his right leg).

7: (Catch, and step back)

The lady faces south directly in front of the man, who faces north.

The man typically catches both of the lady's hands in a double handhold, or catches the lady's right hand in either of his hands.

The man typically catches the lady's hands in a double handhold, or catches the lady's right hand in either his left or right hand. The man leads the lady to finish the spin (placing weight onto her right foot as a brake and then stepping back on her left leg) — by pushing her hand(s) slightly with his hand(s) — as he finishes the spin (placing weight onto his left foot as a brake and then stepping back on his right leg).

8: (Finish)

The lady faces south stepped away directly in front of the man, who faces north.

The man typically has a double handhold with the lady, or holds the lady's right hand in either of his hands at waist height.
