Return Comb (4 counts ; 8 musical beats)

Also known as: Slow Comb (in Ceroc®).

Introduction

The Return naturally links into the Comb, since the high hands can be brought over the man's head, rather than lowering them to waist height.

Steps

1: (Step back)

The lady faces south directly in front of the man, who faces north.

The man holds the lady's right hand in his left hand.

The man leads the lady to move backwards (stepping back on her right foot in preparation for an anticlockwise rotation) — by pushing her right hand slightly with his left hand — as he moves backwards.

2: (Step in and return)

The lady faces south stepped away directly in front of the man, who faces north.

The man holds the lady's right hand in his left hand.

The man leads the lady to move forwards and turn 360o anticlockwise (with weight on her left leg) under his left hand (and the lady's right hand) — by pulling her right hand slightly with his left hand and bringing his left hand (and the lady's right hand) across to his right and raising his left hand (and the lady's right hand) from waist height to above the lady's head (almost as if he were wiping his nose on his left sleeve) — as he moves forwards.

3: (Comb yourself)

The lady faces south directly in front of the man, who faces north.

The man holds the lady's right hand in his right hand — the man's right hand is over the lady's head.

The man leads the lady to “comb his hair” — by raising his right hand (and the lady's right hand) from waist height over his head (in a combing motion, ending so that he holds her right hand on his right shoulder.

4: ()

The lady faces south stepped away directly in front of the man, who faces north.

The man holds the lady's right hand in his right hand — the lady holds the man's right shoulder with her right hand.

The man leads the lady to move backwards — by releasing the lady's right hand from his right hand — as he moves backwards and then typically catches the lady's hands in a double handhold, or catches the lady's right hand in either his left or right hand.

Can pause here, and wiggle, or walk — there is a definite sight-line here, gaze deeply into each other's eyes!

5: (Finish)

The lady faces south stepped away directly in front of the man, who faces north.

The man typically has a double handhold with the lady, or holds the lady's right hand in either of his hands at waist height.
